For more than 300 years, immigrants from all over the world have been putting down roots in New Orleans, many disembarking here for their first steps in America. Some families can trace their ancestry in this city back 10 or more generations. While much genealogical research can be done online, there are still many records that are only available in physical form at libraries and other facilities that house historical archives.
