Royal Sonesta New Orleans' The Jazz Playhouse presents "An Evening with The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band" On New Year's Eve

NEW ORLEANS (December 19, 2016)-Landmark hotel Royal Sonesta New Orleans is set to ring in 2017 in classic style, with the return of its New Year's Eve jazz performance celebration. Back by popular demand for the second year in a row, the hotel's live music venue The Jazz Playhouse presents "An Evening with The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band" on Saturday, Dec. 31 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Royal Sonesta New Orleans remains proud to bring jazz back to Bourbon Street via The Jazz Playhouse, located on the hotel's lobby level. Once again, traveling visitors and local revelers alike can countdown to the New Year with a memorable evening of dancing and live jazz entertainment by Gerald French & The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, plus handcrafted libations such as the French 75, the Original Highball and the Champagne Cocktail, all in the heart of the French Quarter at 300 Bourbon Street.

The event's featured entertainment, The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, is a living museum. In 1910, the Tuxedo Jazz Band played its first show at the Tuxedo Dance Hall in Storyville, under direction of Oscar Celestin. The popular ensemble has since played throughout the city and the country. In 1953, it became the first jazz band to play at the White House. The band has carried on a rich tradition by preserving history through its dedication to tradition and constant evolution. The Jazz Playhouse at Royal Sonesta New Orleans is honored to be a part of that legacy as it regularly hosts the famed band on Mondays weekly.
