New Orleans, LA — September 2026 — Mess Arts is back—and growing! Following a joyful Labor Day Create & Play Camp, the New Orleans nonprofit is launching a vibrant fall season filled with art, movement, music, theater, STEM, field trips, guest artists, community events, and new opportunities for young creatives.

With a mission to make high-quality creative experiences accessible to children and families, Mess Arts brings together professional teaching artists, performers, educators, community partners, and working creatives to create welcoming spaces where young people can create, move, explore, build confidence, make friends, and make a mess.

MEET THE MESS ARTS TEACHING COMMUNITY

At the heart of Mess Arts is its growing teaching community—a dynamic group of artists and creative mentors who bring their experience, energy, and unique perspectives directly to young people.

The current teaching community includes:

  • Kenneth “Kynt” Bryan — Master Teaching Artist
  • Sofia Olexia-Daigle — Teaching Artist
  • Lazy Levin — Teaching Artist
  • Ness Kent — Guest Teaching Artist
  • Karel Sloane-Boekbinder — Teaching Community Artist

Together, they create hands-on experiences that encourage children to experiment, express themselves, collaborate, and discover new possibilities through the arts.

This fall, Mess Arts is transforming school break into five colorful, creative days of dance, visual art, music, theater, STEM, gymnastics, storytelling, movement, games, water play, Halloween fun, New Orleans culture, friendships—and plenty of MESS.

Every day brings a new adventure and new opportunities to learn from working artists and community creatives.

⭐ THE PASS IT ON ARTIST SERIES

Mess Arts' Pass It On Artist Series gives campers the opportunity to meet, create, collaborate, and learn alongside working artists and community creatives.

The series reflects one of Mess Arts' core beliefs: young people benefit from seeing creativity in action and connecting directly with the artists who help shape their communities.

🚌 A UNIQUELY NEW ORLEANS FIELD TRIP

Monster Mash campers will head to Bloody Mary’s Haunted Museum for an unforgettable New Orleans adventure featuring history, mystery, storytelling, and Halloween fun.

The experience is designed to connect young people with the culture, stories, and creative spirit of the city they call home.

🧟‍♀️ COMMUNITY POP-UP: THRILLER DANCE CLASS

Mess Arts is opening its special Thriller Dance Class to the entire community on Friday, October 16 at 2 PM.

Families, friends, dancers, neighbors, and community members are invited to come learn the iconic Halloween-inspired choreography, move together, and celebrate the season.

You do not have to be enrolled in Monster Mash Camp to participate.

🎶 BIG NIGHT AT SIBERIA

Mess Arts is also bringing its community together for BIG NIGHT, a special evening of music, dancing, creativity, connection, and celebration.

Mess Arts is excited to continue expanding its partnership with Tulane University, connecting higher education, service learning, fundraising, sponsorship development, and community arts programming.
