LOUISIANA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES 2026-2027 SEASON: SINGLE TICKETS ON SALE WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, 2026
Multiple GRAMMY® Winner Samara Joy Joins the LPO for a Landmark Collaboration GRAMMY® Winning Tank and The Bangas Return with Dawn Richard
NEW ORLEANS, LA — The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) today announced that single tickets for its 2026-2027 season go on sale Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Led by Music Director Matthew Kraemer, the season spans nearly 300 years of repertoire and features two of its most anticipated collaborations yet: a landmark performance with multiple GRAMMY® winner Samara Joy, and the highly anticipated return of GRAMMY® winners Tank and The Bangas, joined this time by fellow New Orleans native Dawn Richard.
"Collaborations like this one with Tank and The Bangas and Dawn Richard are exactly why this orchestra exists," said LPO Executive Director Anwar Nasir. "As cultural bearers of New Orleans' over two-hundred-year orchestral tradition, our role isn't just to preserve the canon — it's to stand alongside the artists writing this city's musical story right now."
SAMARA JOY JOINS THE LPO: A LANDMARK COLLABORATION OF GRAMMY ® WINNERS
On Wednesday, March 11, 2027, the LPO welcomes multiple GRAMMY® winner Samara Joy to the Orpheum stage for a landmark standalone collaboration. One of the most celebrated voices in jazz today, Joy brings depth and warmth to every performance that is impossible to ignore. Her latest album Portrait, co-produced with acclaimed trumpeter and bandleader Brian Lynch, earned the 2026 GRAMMY® for Best Jazz Vocal Album and showcases the soulful chemistry she has developed with her band alongside her growing gifts as a lyricist and arranger. Paired with the full orchestral power of the LPO, her artistry finds new dimension and new possibility — a merging of two worlds of musical excellence, and one of the most anticipated performances of the season.
THE RETURN OF TANK AND THE BANGAS: A GRAMMY® WINNING HOMECOMING
The LPO is thrilled to welcome back New Orleans' own Tank and The Bangas for a highly anticipated third collaboration — this time joined by fellow New Orleans native Dawn Richard, making her debut alongside the orchestra. Richard brings her own genre-defying voice to the homecoming, adding a new dimension to a partnership that has already produced some of the LPO's most electric nights on the Orpheum stage. Her addition rounds out a bill that reunites two of New Orleans' most celebrated homegrown talents with the city's orchestra: since Tank and The Bangas last performed with the LPO, the group has ascended to new heights, returning as GRAMMY® Award winners for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for The Heart, The Mind, The Soul. The orchestra, band, and Richard celebrate together on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 7:30 PM at the Orpheum Theater.
These collaborations add to a schedule of previously announced concerts that feature many new works by living composers and the titans of orchestral music. Audiences are in for pieces by acclaimed composers such as Anna Clyne, James Lee III, Gabriella Lena Frank, Kevin Puts, Carlos Simon and Gabriela Ortiz. Beloved LPO Music Director Laureate returns after three seasons to lead a program of Shostakovich and Prokofiev.
"There's something special about music making with this orchestra," said Music Director Matthew Kraemer. "Every time we bring voices together, we find fresh possibility in the music, and this season promises to be one of the most electric."
