First Weekend of The 2026 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Presented by Shell Delivers Strong Hotel Occupancy

NEW ORLEANS – The first weekend of The 2026 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell delivered strong hotel occupancy across New Orleans, with performance exceeding 2025 levels and reinforcing the city’s continued tourism momentum.

Friday and Saturday nights reached occupancy levels in the 90% range, with overall weekend performance pacing ahead of last year.

Jazz Fest Weekend One 2025 Hotel Occupancy FINAL 2026 Hotel Occupancy FINAL
Thursday 78% 83.0%
Friday 85% 91.4%
Saturday 87% 94.1%

The strong performance was driven by demand from both leisure travel and meetings and conventions, with both segments contributing to elevated hotel occupancy throughout the weekend.

In addition to strong hotel performance, visitation increased significantly across key areas of the city. The Fair Grounds saw a 45.6 percent year-over-year increase in out-of-market visitors, while the Downtown and French Quarter District recorded a 5.6 percent increase in out-of-market visitation, with stronger visitation across all four days of the festival.

New Orleans & Company also hosted media from around the world during the festival to generate coverage that highlights the city’s culture, music, and hospitality and inspires future visitation.
