4th Annual Feel the Rhythm of the Drums Festival Returns to New Orleans on October 3, 2026
A Celebration of African and Afro-Caribbean Culture, Music, Dance, and Community
NEW ORLEANS, LA — September 9, 2026 — The 4th Annual Feel the Rhythm of the Drums Festival will return to New Orleans on Saturday, October 3, 2026, bringing together more than 100 artists and cultural performers from across the globe for an unforgettable celebration of African and Afro-Caribbean music, dance, heritage, and community.
Presented by Majekfingers Drumming School, the festival will take place at Music Box Village, 4557 N. Rampart Street, New Orleans. Gates open at 3:00 p.m., with the main show beginning at 5:00 p.m.
This year's festival theme, “Every Rhythm Tells a Story,” reflects the power of rhythm to connect generations, preserve cultural traditions, and bring people together across borders and communities.
The Feel the Rhythm of the Drums Festival will feature an exciting lineup of international and local artists representing cultures from Africa, Guyana, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Haiti, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, and New Orleans.
Featured performers and cultural groups include Okan y Miel (Cuba), CULU & N’Kafu, Bombazo Drum and Dance Company (Puerto Rico), Grupo Yurumeina, Watotos Kumbuka, Culture Ties Drum & Dance Company (Haiti), Tamojunto (Brazil), Congo Square Preservation Society, and Majekfingers Drumming Ensemble, among others.
The festival will also offer hands-on cultural experiences for families and young people, including a drumming workshop, drum and dance activities, face painting, arts and crafts, cultural vendors, food, and opportunities for the community to experience traditional music and dance firsthand.
“Every rhythm tells a story, and every culture has a story that deserves to be heard, celebrated, and passed on to the next generation,” said Orlando Primo, Founder and Director of Majekfingers Drumming School and Executive Director of Feel the Rhythm of the Drums. “This festival is more than a concert. It is a cultural gathering where people can learn, participate, connect, and celebrate the traditions that make our communities unique.”
The festival continues Majekfingers Drumming School's longstanding commitment to using drumming, dance, and cultural education to inspire youth, strengthen communities, and preserve African, Afro-Caribbean, and Guyanese cultural traditions.
Now in its fourth year, Feel the Rhythm of the Drums has grown into an international cultural gathering that highlights the diversity of the African and Afro-Caribbean diaspora while creating a welcoming space for families, artists, cultural organizations, and community members.
