The holidays are a time for celebrating with family and friends, giving back to those around us and reflecting on the things we're most thankful for in our lives. All across the globe as people gather around their tables and prepare to give thanks, New Orleanians have a number of uniquely NOLA things to be thankful for. Here’s a list of some of the things we’re most thankful for in the Crescent City.

New Orleanian Cuisine

It comes as no surprise that New Orleans cuisine is some of the tastiest and most sought after around the world. Delicacies such as fresh crawfish and seafood, hot gumbo, overstuffed po-boys, ice cold snowballs and beignets powdered to perfection make a kitchen full of thankfulness!

Year-Round Festivals

In New Orleans, regular weekends transform into three-day festivities on a monthly basis. We are thankful to be in a city that finds just about any and every reason to celebrate. Food, music, art, history and even seasons - there’s a festival for just about everything in the Crescent City. Southern Decadence, French Quarter Fest and Bayou Boogaloo are just a few of the many unique and niche fests here in New Orleans. Explore more here.

Unmatched Hospitality & Southern Charm

Lodging in New Orleans isn’t your typical stay. The city’s Southern Charm and uniquely New Orleans hospitality makes every visit feel like a home away from home. Accommodations such as the Inn at the Old Jail, the Henry Howard and Catahoula Hotel have a way of making guests feel like family and friends rather than customers and reservations.

Living History of the City

This history of New Orleans is one filled with trailblazing contributions of diverse groups and individuals. We’re thankful to be in a city with a rich legacy and heritage, and even more thankful for the tour guides, artists, historians and museums curators who preserve and tell the history of the city. Centers, museums and galleries such as The Backstreet Cultural Museum, The Cabildo, Axiom Art Gallery, Deutsches Haus, the Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden, Le Musee de f.p.c. and much more continue to share the stories that make up New Orleans. For a full list of historic homes, museums, galleries or other attractions, visit here.

Unique Culture

New Orleans has a one of a kind culture that just can’t be duplicated. From Mardi Gras Indians to Second Line Parades there are several characteristics about the city that can’t be found elsewhere. Experience the culture through creative arts by booking a Sip & Sew session or mixing your very New Orleans original cocktail at the New Orleans Drink Lab.

Mardi Gras

Everywhere else, Tuesdays are ordinary but here in New Orleans, we own Tuesdays! And our favorite Tuesday of them all is Fat Tuesday! We’re thankful for the parades, the throws, the King Cakes and celebrations that come with Mardi Gras in New Orleans!
