History

As one of the final neighborhoods in New Orleans to be developed, Mid-City retains a more local and diverse atmosphere today. The area grew extensively in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries – transforming from swamps to a quirky, town-like area filled with colorful homes. What used to be the “backatown” is now a thriving New Orleans neighborhood with a vibe all its own.
