Lakeview History

Although the New Basin Canal came about in the 19th century in New Orleans’ Lakeview neighborhood, the area was mostly underdeveloped swamp-land until the 20th century. But due to its surroundings – namely, large bodies of water including Lake Pontchartrain, it’s no wonder that the area has since become a charming residential area filled with New Orleans’ boating community.
