Best Airport in North America, 2022

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) received a top industry award for Best Airport in North America (5 to 15 million passengers per year) from the Airports Council International (ACI) World’s 2022 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) program. The ASQ awards highlight the world’s best airports as judged by their customers who are surveyed while they are in the airport. This is the second year in a row that MSY was awarded Best Airport in North America. MSY is one of only three airports in North America to win Best Airport recognition among those serving 5 to 15 million passengers per year.

New Orleans Airport ranked best large airport in North America by J.D. Power, 2021

JD Power awards MSY #1 airport in North America

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is ranked as the number one large airport in North America for customer satisfaction based on J.D. Power’s 2021 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, which was released on Sept. 22. MSY’s number one ranking represents significant improvement from number 11 in 2020 and number 23 in 2019.

The annual study surveys passengers in six categories (in order of importance): terminal facilities; airport arrival/department; baggage claim; security check; check-in/baggage check; and food, beverage and retail. In the large airport category of 10 to 32.9 million passengers per year, MSY achieved a score of 844 based on a 1,000-point scale.

For more details on the award and additions to the airport, please visit the FlyMSY site here.

The brand new MSY opened in Fall 2019 with a number of enhancements and features geared towards making travel quicker, safer and more enjoyable from arrival to departure. The $1 billion project includes in-line baggage screening, a consolidated security checkpoint to three concourses and 35 gates, a 2,200-car parking garage and more concessions options located down the center of aisle. Also, enjoy live entertainment while you wait for your flight.

The new facility is expected to increase the airport’s economic impact by approximately 20% in the next five years and will support 64,000 jobs and $6.4 billion in local spending.
