New Orleans Winter Festivals
Leave the Ice and Snow Behind for These Winter Events From November to March
While other cities are worrying about ice and snow, winter in New Orleans ushers in more reasons to enjoy the city’s unique culture. The holidays sparkle merry and bright with the month-long Christmas New Orleans Style, a festival of traditions from bonfires on the levee and caroling to Reveillion dinners and the brilliant lights of Celebration in the Oaks in leafy City Park. NOLA ChristmasFest is all about the family, with the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center transformed into a wonderland of ice skating, fun activities for the kids and more than a million shimmering lights. Come Twelfth Night, January 6, Carnival season gets underway with its parties, parades and revelry leading up to Mardi Gras Day.The day-long King Cake Festival takes over Champions Square, a benefit for babies and children at Ochsner Health System that challenges the city’s best pastry chefs to create the ultimate king cake, the official sweet of the Carnival season.
