What better way to kick off the Mardi Gras season than with a show at Tipitina’s? Louisiana singer-songwriter-musician Amanda Shaw performs a special Twelfth Night Celebration with guests Choppa and Big Sam on Friday, Jan. 6. Enjoy your king cake during the day and check out this performance at night.

As one of several parades that roll on the evening of January 6, Funky Uptown Krewe is making our live music roundup because of their theme: “Everybody Get Your Funk On!” The parade will feature the drum patterns of DJ Mannie Fresh as he performs a full DJ set on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar. The krewe’s signature throw is hand-decorated, bedazzled vinyl records. Find information on the route here.

Zack Smith, New Orleans Tourism

Grammy Award-winning Cajun band Lost Bayou Ramblers has a special performance planned for Sunday, Jan. 15. Held at the Orpheum Theater, the band will be joined by Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in a one-night-only event.
