Thank you to everyone that celebrated National Travel and Tourism Week with us. We had a great week of activations and honoring those individuals that make tourism in our city happen.
We handed out 400 lunches to taxi and ride share drivers, showed our gratitude to more than 600 employees at 10 of our member businesses during Random Acts of Kindness Day, celebrated with more than 300 people at the Pep Rally while honoring our Industry Champions, and ended the week with more than a dozen volunteers at the Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build.
National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW) is a tradition celebrated annually since 1984. The event was established as National Tourism Week when the U.S. Congress passed a joint resolution in 1983 designating the week to be celebrated in May. In a White House ceremony, President Reagan even signed a Presidential Proclamation urging citizens to observe the week with ceremonies and activities in their communities.
Every year, New Orleans & Company, along with our major tourism partners, join cities across the United States to celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week and the industry that employs thousands of locals and brings billions of dollars to our city annually.
