There’s always music in the air in New Orleans and Louis Armstrong Park is a wonderful place to enjoy it. Jazz in the Park is a series of free, outdoor musical performances with a different local band every week. The concerts are every Thursday evening just outside of the French Quarter in the famous Louis Armstrong Park during the spring and the fall. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to dance to live music and enjoy the gorgeous weather New Orleans is famous for this time of year.
Previous performers have included local and national favorites like Jon Cleary, Charmaine Neville, Treme Brass Band, Little Freddie King and many more.
In addition to the music, you can browse and shop the beautiful art work on display by some of the most talented up-and-coming artists in the city. From paintings to handmade jewelry and crafts, you’ll be inspired each week by these locally made pieces. Show up hungry because food and drink vendors sell a variety of local dishes to keep you sated. There’s seafood, Cajun and Creole dishes as well as desserts to savor.
Located on Rampart Street, Louis Armstrong Park is within easy walking distance from the French Quarter and Central Business District. Street parking is also available with meter service until 7 p.m., and then free parking is permitted.
Jazz in the Park is put on by the People United for Armstrong Park, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the park.
