ABOUT:

What is the New Orleans Oyster Festival?

Some of the best oysters in the city by the dozen, live music from a lineup local performers, unique craft vendors and oyster competitions are among the many things you can experience at Oyster Fest. This summer fest is two-day long event hosted at Woldenberg Park.

Put together with the mission of educating attendees on the importance of the Louisiana Gulf Oyster and to honor local oyster farmers and restaurateurs, Oyster Fest celebrates the beloved New Orleanian delicacy while raising funds for coastal restoration organizations.

What food can I find at the New Orleans Oyster Festival? Oysters, of course! Raw, fried, charbroiled by the dozen or atop your favorite dishes - the possibilities are endless. Vendors from across the city offer both traditional and unique takes for attendees to try. Oyster experts such as Acme, Felix’s and Drago’s have served traditional oysters by the half dozen in past years. Unique highlights have included Ceviche Oysters from Trenasse, a Crispy Oyster Thai Salad from the Creole House Restaurant & Oyster Bar and Buffalo Oyster Sliders from Superior Seafood.

Looking for a full lineup past year’s vendor menus? Check here in anticipation for this year’s fest.

What is the live entertainment at Oyster Festival?

In addition to all you can eat oysters, enjoy live entertainment at Oyster Fest! Local artists from across the Crescent City make their way to the Oyster Fest stage to entertain attendees as they shuck the day away. Past year’s performers have included Sweet Crude, the Treme Brass Band, Bag of Donuts and many others.

Can I participate in Oyster Festival contests?

Yep! Whether you’re an oyster farmer, shucker or just a fanatic there’s a competition for you. Each year Oyster Fest hosts three signature competitions:

The Acme Oyster House World Oyster Eating Contest

Oyster lovers compete to see who can eat the most oysters in under eight minutes.

P&J Oyster Shucking Contest

For the quickest oyster shuckers in the city. How many can you shuck in just two minutes? Sign up and see.

New Orleans Fish House Largest Oyster Contest

Calling on oyster farmers from near and far to compete for the largest oyster. Previous competitions have brought in oysters weighing at 3lbs.

How much are tickets to Oyster Festival?

Free! Admission to Oyster Fest is free and open to the public. All are invited to shuck and devour all day long at Woldenberg Park. VIP tickets are available for an enhanced fest experience.

Make sure to bring cash to purchase bites from Oyster Fest vendors.
