The Krewe of Mid-City was founded in 1933 and is Carnival’s fifth oldest parading organization. It is named for the neighborhood where its procession began until the 2002 season. In 1947 the club introduced animated floats to Mardi Gras. The youthful themes selected by this imaginative group make it a favorite among children. Mid-City’s floats are colored with tin foil that gives them a unique appearance. Some throw items feature interlocking hearts and the French motto, Pour La Joie De Vivre – for the joy of life.
