Founded in 1968, the Krewe of Armeinius is the largest Gay Mardi Gras organization in the city. Throughout the year, their mission is to educate the community and preserve the history and traditions of Gay Mardi Gras.
Each year, they celebrate the organization’s mission and efforts with their annual Krewe of Armeinius Ball. Check their offical website for more events they put on throughout the year.
Krewe of Armeinius Ball
The 2020 ball takes place Friday, February 21 at Mardi Gras World. Traditionally held on the Saturday before Mardi Gras, the 2020 ball has to have a change in dates due to changes in the Saturday parade route. Regardless, it will be lavish evening of satire and fun. For years, the ball was a private event, but the Krewe of Armeinius has opened the night to the public for the past couple of years. This is your sneak peak into Gay Carnival!
Serving as a culmination their members’ hard work and dedication, the Krewe of Armeinius Ball will feature a number of handmade gowns and costumes, an abundance of food and drinks and live performances.
Once a highly secretive event because of safety concerns has blossomed into an event for all. Members of the public are invited to purchase tickets on a first-come-first-serve basis. Tickets and individual seats will be available for purchase with a modest donation to the krewe. For more information on ticketing and their mission, visit here.
