Carnival’s fourth oldest parading group was founded 75 years ago by the Westside Social and Carnival Club and presented its inaugural parade with a single float on Fat Tuesday, 1933. The all-male krewe takes its name from an abbreviation of Algiers, Louisiana – the New Orleans Westbank community through which it once traveled. Alla has since moved over to the Saint Charles Avenue parade route Uptown, and follows after Cleopatra two Fridays before Mardi Gras Day.
