Afro Freedom Afro Feast is an event organized by Chef Serigne Mbaye and Dakar NOLA to honor our newest national holiday, Juneteenth. The event brings together some of the best chefs in New Orleans to cook a communal meal, mostly over live fire, much as the ancestors did. Juneteenth commemorates the date in 1865 when Africans enslaved in Texas learned that they were free from bondage. This glorious day has since been celebrated with food, culture, and fellowship. This year, the celebration is held at Grow Dat Youth Farm located in New Orleans City Park.
Tickets go on sale Monday, April 29.
