Spend your time browsing through one of the most beautiful and popular holiday lighting displays in the country. From the Friday after Thanksgiving to January 3^rd, Celebration in the Oaks at City Park lights up each night with several light displays that attracts hundreds of thousands of people. Various displays include “Cajun Night Before Christmas”, “Who Dat Tree” and New Orleans’ favorite snowman, Mr. Bingle.

If you’re into singing, then let your voice be heard by caroling in Jackson Square. Each year, thousands of people flock to Jackson Square singing their favorite Christmas tunes. If you’d rather listen to holiday tunes than sing them, head to St. Louis Cathedral for free holiday concerts. 

Holiday home tours allow you to witness the true beauty of New Orleans during the special season. Tours take people through areas such as the Garden District and French Quarter while allowing you to experience historic homes decorated for the holidays.

There is no better place for holiday shopping than New Orleans. Treat yourself and the whole family to some wonderful gifts to put under the tree. Stop by various shops along the Riverwalk, Uptown or the French Quarter.

Nola Christmas Fest offers a variety of fun things to do for you and your family. Your family can meet Santa, ice skate, ride on rollercoasters and much more. The event takes place in the Warehouse District with events occurring both inside and out.

Bonfires on the Levee is the perfect way to light the way for the Cajun Santa Claus, Papa Noel. Bonfires are located around the city on the Mississippi River on Christmas Eve. Starting at 7 p.m., wooden logs are set on fire while many gather for a free show, and in some cases, a warm cup of gumbo.

Reveillon Dinners allow your family to fill their stomachs while learning about an old Creole tradition. In the late 18^th century, Creoles would have a large family dinner upon their return from midnight mass. Now, the tradition has been modified to fit modern times. Today, several New Orleans restaurants offer these dinner with menus inspired by old Creole dishes, just at a reasonable hour.
