Have you experienced a Cycle Theater? It’s a room filled with dozens of bikes stacked on tiered platforms to resemble a concert stadium. Inside, you’ll find pulsing lights, immersive music, and TV screens. CycleBar, a studio located in Uptown New Orleans with rhythm-based cycle classes, blurs the line between a workout and a party. CycleBar is known for its focus on music, and the schedule is filled with classes themed by musicians and genre, from Queen to Missy Elliot. Instructors are dubbed “CycleStars” and lead attendees through classes that integrate endurance training and intervals in 45-minute workouts, with ample encouragement and motivation. Franco’s Athletic Club

Situated in the heart of the Lower Garden District, Franco’s Athletic Club offers a self-serve gym and diverse range of group workout classes, including cycling. Check their schedule for SPRINT™, a 30-minute HIIT cycle class that alternates between give-it-your-all intensity and rest periods, or their classic Studio Cycle which focuses on improving overall athletic performance to high-energy music for 45 minutes of maximum fat-burning potential. You’re welcome to bring your own clip-in cycle shoes, but their bikes can also accommodate normal athletic sneakers. One of the perks of visiting Franco’s is that a drop-in class also gives you access to the entire gym, which includes cardio, weight machines, and steam rooms. Oh, and did we mention that the location is stunning? Set among historic buildings, the facility artfully mixes historic and modern architecture.

Romney Studios

Housed in a dazzling white building on Magazine Street, Romney Studios offers dozens of classes each day, from cycling to Pilates. Romney RIDE is the studio’s signature cycle class, taking place in a low-lit room illuminated with neon lights to shut out distractions and keep you focused on your workout. Each class lasts 50 minutes and is set to a carefully curated playlist of high-energy music. Classes also include upper body weights to strengthen your torso. Complimentary shoe rental and towel services are available, and the studio is equipped with roomy bathrooms and showers so you can freshen up after class.
