WHAT: Volunteer French Quarter Graffiti Cleanup
WHEN: Saturday, May 11, 2019 (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
WHERE: French Quarter, Eighth District Police Station, 334 Royal Street
April 23, 2019 – The French Quarter Business Association invites individuals and groups to volunteer on Saturday, May 11, 2019, to help rid public spaces in the French Quarter of graffiti. The cleanup will begin with check-in at 9 a.m. in the courtyard of the New Orleans Police Department’s Eighth District, 334 Royal Street and will end at noon.
All those passionate about making the French Quarter graffiti-free should sign up and be a part of this fun and worthwhile event. With the tools and instructions in hand, volunteers spread out through the French Quarter and remove as many graffiti marks as possible. Volunteers receive a work t-shirt (while supplies last), all cleaning products and tools for the cleanup, and refreshments. Register online at www.fqba.org as an individual or group.
The event and supplies are generously sponsored by French Quarter Advocates. French Quarter Advocates’ President Bryan Drude is thrilled to give back to the neighborhood where its membership lives and works. Their benevolent contribution will provide the gloves, rags, scrappers, scouring pads, t-shirts and Vieux Carre Commission-approved cleaning solution.
The French Quarter Business Association, along with other French Quarter groups, implemented the Vieux Carre Graffiti Abatement Program (VC-GAP) in the summer of 2010. VC-GAP hopes to eradicate illegal graffiti from the structures in the French Quarter. The graffiti problem is not as insurmountable as once presumed and VC-GAP is working to help those victimized by offering information and solutions. This neighborhood beautification effort is just one of the commitments VC-GAP is making the community.

The French Quarter Business Association is a not-for-profit organization of business owners and associates located in and around the French Quarter. Our purpose is to assist in the development and success of business in the Vieux Carre while protecting the integrity of this historic and cultural district.
