WHY: Now in its seventh year, The Historic New Orleans Collection's Concerts in the Courtyard offers a fun, casual way to kick off the weekend with live outdoor performances by Louisiana musicians. The fall series opens Friday, September 19, with a performance by Debbie Davis and the Mesmerizers.
Debbie Davis and the Mesmerizers is a new project for the veteran performer Davis, who is familiar to local audiences as a vocalist with the Pfister Sisters and New Orleans Nightingales. A native of New Jersey, Davis moved to New Orleans in 1997 and has been singing professionally since the age of two. She has recorded with John Boutté, Soul Asylum, the Misfits, New Orleans Nightcrawlers, Dukes of Dixieland, Lil' Band of Gold, Marc Stone, Harry Shearer and more. Davis sings and plays the ukulele with the Mesmerizers. Rounding out the band are Alex McMurray (guitar), Josh Paxton (piano) and Matt Perrine (sousaphone).
All concerts this season will feature white wine and beer. Admission to each show is $10, free for THNOC members, and includes three complimentary beverages. All shows are held at 533 Royal St., and The Collection's gift shop will be open for extended hours during the concerts. For more information, call (504) 523-4662 or visit www.hnoc.org.
