CHEF ISAAC TOUPS REVEALS UPCOMING THEMES FOR COUNTER CLUB
Chef Isaac Toups’ Counter Club – the monthly off-menu dinner and brunch series at Toups South – has been a smashing sold-out success since launching in 2017. Held exclusively at the restaurant’s exhibition kitchen counter, guests can enjoy four courses of imaginative, southern regional cuisine, while interacting with Chef Toups and his team. Below is a sneak-peek at upcoming Counter Club themes, priced at $50 per person (excluding beverages, tax, and gratuity):
Kids Table on Thursday, September 19, 2019. This kid-friendly theme is inspired by Isaac’s experience cooking for his daughters. Dishes will include sweetbread “chicken nuggets” with smoky green ketchup.
Best Things I’ve Eaten While Traveling on Thursday, October 17, 2019. Dishes include soft scrambled eggs with caviar inspired by Russ and Daughters in NYC.
Po’ Folks on Thursday, November 21, 2019, is inspired by the early days when Isaac and his wife Amanda were struggling. Dishes include an elevated version of lunch meat stir fry made with duck prosciutto.
India on Thursday, December 19, 2019, will feature inventive Indian specialties with a twist like venison vindaloo.
Counter Club dinner takes place the third Thursday of each month at the Toups South exhibition kitchen, 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard inside the Southern Food & Beverage Museum (SoFAB) in New Orleans. Diners can choose from two seating times: 6PM or 8:30PM. Seating is very limited and reservations can only be made by calling the restaurant directly at (504) 304-2147. Diners should specify which Counter Club they’d like to attend and share any dietary restrictions.

Since opening in March 2018, James Beard “Best Chef: South” Nina Compton and Chef/Partner Levi Raines, have been earning rave reviews for their fresh, approachable cuisine at Bywater American Bistro. On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, the ingredient-driven eatery, also known for its exceptional bar program, will welcome Monica Bourgeois & Neil Gernon of Vending Machine Wines for a special, one night-only four-course dinner. Created by Chefs Compton and Raines, the bold menu will showcase the creative cuisine that the restaurant is known for, with each wine selected to perfectly complement the robust flavors of the dish. Copper Vine in New Orleans’ Central Business District continues its “Between the Vines” wine dinner series on Thursday, September 26, 2019, 6:30PM – 9:30PM with a 5-course pairing dinner featuring selections from Anne Amie Vineyards in Oregon’s verdant Willamette Valley. The dinner aims to both entertain and educate with guided tasting notes of each wine, and a sumptuous meal specially crafted to complement the Anne Amie wines. Guests can enjoy elevated Southern regional cuisine while interacting with representatives from Anne Amie and Copper Vine sommelier Lydia Kurkoski.
