THE RITZ-CARLTON, NEW ORLEANS TO HOST ORIGINAL MOSCOW MULE COPPER CUP IN CELEBRATION OF THE COCKTAIL'S 75TH ANNIVERSARY

NEW ORLEANS (July 18, 2016) - In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Moscow Mule, The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans will host Moscow Copper for a week-long celebration of all things Mule. Tuesday, July 19th through Saturday, July 23rd from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Moscow Copper will be present in The Davenport Lounge offering drink specials as well as an opportunity to interact with a relic of cocktail history- the original copper Moscow Mule cup. An engraver will also be on hand at The Ritz-Carlton, offering complimentary custom copper cup engraving with the purchase of a Moscow Copper mug.

The Moscow Mule originated at the Cock and Bull Pub in Hollywood, CA in 1941 and has been an American favorite ever since. The potent concoction comprised of vodka, ginger beer and lime in a copper cup was the brainchild of Sophie Berezinski, a Russian immigrant whose father was a coppersmith, and John Martin, who had recently purchased the floundering Smirnoff vodka distillery.
