The New Movement
2706 St. Claude Ave
New Orleans, LA 70117

Since 2009, The New Movement has been the Gulf South's fastest-growing creative community with improv training centers in Austin and New Orleans. TNM's founders (and New Orleans natives) Chris Trew and Tami Nelson started off in a small one-room former laundromat in a rough Austin neighborhood, teaching a specific approach to the improv craft that couldn't be found in a book or anywhere else in the country.

Their new approach paid off as TNM immediately attracted both eager rookie comedians and veteran performers, and they soon expanded into a much larger space in downtown Austin, followed by Chris and Tami moving back to New Orleans to establish a TNM branch there. In mid-2014, TNM Nola launched the largest theater space Kickstarter of all time, and renovated an amazing 2-story building in the upcoming Marigny neighborhood into a comedy-creating campus with a larger theater, multiple classrooms, a video/podcast production studio, and a full-service bar that serves into the theater and onto a charming back patio.

Today, TNM features a variety of comedy classes for adults and children, original shows, teambuilding workshops, private parties, festivals, and other unique events 7 days a week. TNM also produces the New Orleans comedy mega-event, Hell Yes Fest, every October, drawing hundreds of comedians from all over the world to perform in the city for two weeks. Amidst all of this, TNM continues to produce film/TV/web projects, including several projects for Comedy Central and an upcoming television series for MTV.

The New Movement has joined an elite group of comedy collectives who maintain a strong presence in multiple cities and online, and they're a proud part of the New Orleans arts scene that has garnered national attention. Anyone who's looking to express creativity or witness something remarkable can find a home at TNM.

Come see it for yourself.
