NEW ORLEANS (November, 2016) - The Friends of the Cabildo, the support organization for the Louisiana State Museum, will host their annual Creole Christmas tours, December 27th - 29th, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. These well-loved Christmas focused tours take guests through historic homes throughout the French Quarter, providing a glimpse as to how Creoles might have celebrated the holiday in the past. Tickets are $20 for existing FOC members, $25 for non-members, $15 for seniors, students, children twelve and under are free.

"The Creole Christmas tours are an annual tradition that many look forward to," says Ruth Burke, president of the Friends of the Cabildo board of directors. "Attendees are able to set their own pace as they visit several historic home locations in the French Quarter, staged for Christmas."

Originating at the 1850 House Museum store at 523 St. Ann Street on Jackson Square, the tours direct guests through various stop points in the French Quarter. Featured homes include the Gallier House, the 1850 House, the Spring Fiesta House, the Historic New Orleans Collection's Williams Residence and the Beauregard-Keyes House. In the Spring Fiesta House, guests can partake in refreshments while enjoying a presentation on Reveillon and its Creole origins.

"The holiday season in New Orleans is truly special," Friends of the Cabildo Executive Director Jason Strada said. "Visitors are getting to experience what Christmas looked like back then, from a historically accurate perspective while at the same time helping support and preserve our city and state's history."
