FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(August 31, 2016--New Orleans, Louisiana)--The Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc, producers of the annual January 6th Joan of Arc Parade, will host their 7th annual fall conference & gathering "The Salon de Jeanne d'Arc" in partnership with the Loyola University New Orleans Office of Mission and Ministry and Medieval Studies Program on Saturday September 17, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. With the exception of a 5:00 p.m. ticketed event "Mead and Merry", the entire day's offerings are free and open to the public.

The complimentary cultural presentations begin with a "Fast French" unconventional language workshop taught by Alliance Francaise and Ecole Bilingue students and teachers, followed by beignets & café au lait and a panel discussion with French natives in New Orleans sponsored by French American Chamber of Commerce and Sodexo Catering at Loyola (a French owned company and chamber member).

Visiting author Dr. Kelly DeVries will give the conference's 12:50 p.m. keynote lecture based on his book Joan of Arc: Military Leader; and the Monumental Task Committee will give a talk on ways that locals can get involved in supporting the re-gilding of the Joan of Arc statue in the French Quarter. A new play in development, "The Mermaid of Orleans", written by Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc captain Amy Kirk Duvoisin, will be showcased with a staged reading of select scenes as the final presentation of the day.

Attendees can drop in at any time between 9:30 and 4:45 p.m. to learn more about the Krewe de Jeanne d'Arc, meet seasoned krewe members and leaders, and learn more about the 9th annual Joan of Arc Parade, to be held January 6, 2017, on Joan of Arc's birthday.

No tickets or registrations are required between 9:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Only the ticketed 5:00 p.m. krewe fundraiser and medieval beverage tasting event "Mead and Merry" requires pre-registration and purchase.
