NEW ORLEANS (February 26, 2018)—Southern Rep Theatre is now accepting registrations for its annual lineup of summer musical theatre camps for young performers. The age-appropriate day camps take place at Loyola University, New Orleans in four distinct sessions. All camps culminate in final performances for campers’ families, friends, and the public.
“We believe every young person is an artist,” says Helen Jaksch, Southern Rep Director of Arts Education, “so we don’t require any audition to enroll. All our camps focus on age-appropriate theatre skills building within a broader context of teaching confidence, creativity, and collaboration.”
Southern Rep Summer Camps run Monday – Friday for the duration of each session, with additional final performances. Aftercare is available for campers ages 4-12. A limited number of needs-based scholarships are also available for each session.
Registration is open now for all camps, but space is limited. Registration is available online at southernrep.com/plays/2018-summer-theatre-camps/ or through the box office at 504-522-6545 (Tuesday – Friday, 2 – 5 PM). Please direct scholarship inquiries to education@southernrep.com.
