NEW ORLEANS (November 25, 2014) - The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk® and the Downtown Development District will again co-present two nights of free outdoor screenings of holiday movie favorites, The Polar Express and Elf, at the annual Holiday Movies on the Mississippi. The premier holiday events will be hosted at Spanish Plaza adjacent to The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, which reopened this past May after being transformed by The Howard Hughes Corporation®, with the movies showing on a 26-foot movie screen at 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 5th and Friday, December 12th. The events are free and open to the public.

The annual Holiday Movies on the Mississippi series is a part of the Downtown Development District's Canal Street: Home for the Holidays promotion that supports Canal Street retailers during the holiday season and encourages family-friendly activity along the Canal Street corridor.

On both Fridays, guests can purchase and enjoy tasty food and beverage options while relaxing alongside the Mississippi River with family, friends and neighbors. The first 50 families in attendance each Friday will receive a free fleece blanket, courtesy of the Downtown Development District, and guests are encouraged to bring their own lounge chairs and seating.
