(New Orleans, LA) - "Running of the Santas," the most anticipated Christmastime tradition in New Orleans, returns with thousands of participants dressed in festive costumes to celebrate the annual extravaganza on December 13. Now in its fourth year in New Orleans, the Holiday "Fun Run" has quickly become one of the hottest signature Christmastime events in the city.
Last year's "Running of the Santas" attracted revelers from across the Gulf Coast to the streets of downtown New Orleans as they participated in Christmastime merrymaking. This year's holiday block party kicks off at 3:00 pm from the "South Pole" located at Barcadia Bar / Restaurant / Arcade at 601 Tchoupitoulas Street where party-goers can enjoy great food, holiday drinks and special entertainment. The crowds then embark on a seven block "fun run" at 6:00 pm to the "North Pole" at Generations Hall at 310 Andrew Higgins Drive.
This holiday event calls for participants to dress up in their most creative Christmas and holiday attire, and at 8:30 pm a partygoer will receive an award for the overall "Best Holiday Costume." This year's musical entertainment will include Category 6 and Big Sam's Funky Nation at Generations Hall starting at 6:00 pm.
Tickets to the "Running of the Santas" are now available at http://runningofthesantas.com/new-orleans. General admission tickets are $15. New details concerning the 2014 "Running of the Santas" will be released soon online at http://www.runningofthesantas.com/santas/philadelphia.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit That Others May Live Foundation. The foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2002. The foundation provides scholarships, family counseling, and aid to surviving children of United States Air Force (USAF) Rescue Heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice during a rescue mission. The goal of the program is to ensure that every child of a fallen personnel recovery service member receives an opportunity for success.
