Eight years in leisure and convention sales brings extensive understanding of hospitality industry

NEW ORLEANS – July 7, 2010 The New Orleans CVB is announcing that Rebecca Landry joined their award-winning staff as a convention sales manager. Through her role at the New Orleans CVB, Landry will work with associations and corporations based in the Midwest and on the West Coast to promote New Orleans as a future meeting destination.

Prior to joining the New Orleans CVB team, Landry worked for Highpointe Hotel Corporation as a sales manager for the Hampton Inn and Suites Convention Center and then as director of sales for the Hampton Inn Downtown.

Landry began her career in the hospitality industry on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in group sales at Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis where she coordinated the motor coach and air sales effort to generate casino revenues. After relocating to New Orleans in 2002, she worked for the Louisiana Superdome and New Orleans Arena, La Quinta Inns and Suites and Hilton Garden Inns.

“Our clients recognize the New Orleans CVB’s dedication to the convention industry by consistently voting us as one of the top convention and visitors bureaus in the country,” said Nikki Nicholson, vice president of convention sales for the New Orleans CVB. “We are devoted to hiring the best and brightest in the industry, and Rebecca’s experience in both leisure and convention sales makes her the perfect addition to our sales team.”

Complimenting her professional sales experience, Landry currently serves as a member of the board for the Louisiana Society of Association Executives, a position she has held since 2007. She was also on the convention planning committee for the Louisiana Society of Association Executives, and was awarded the “2006 Supplier of the Year Award” from the association.

“With eight years of experience on the hotel side of the hospitality industry, I am excited to have the opportunity to join the convention sales team of the New Orleans CVB,” says Landry. “I look forward to partnering with the local tourism community to sell New Orleans as the most unique destination in the country.”

The New Orleans CVB is the driving catalyst for New Orleans’ largest industry – tourism - strategically leading national and international marketing, public relations and visitor services efforts that attract millions of visitors, events, conventions and festivals.
