Since 2008, The Roots of Music has been dedicated to teaching, supporting and empowering New Orleans' youth through music education, academic support and mentorship, while preserving and promoting New Orleans' unique musical and cultural heritage. On Friday, November 7th at 7 p.m., the non-profit organization will celebrate six years of success with "Raise the Roof for Roots" - a festive evening of live entertainment, tantalizing food, craft beers and cocktail bar taking place at NOLA Brewing.

According to co-founder Derrick Tabb (Rebirth Brass Band), a prestigious CNN Hero in 2009, "Each year we see the program grow and the kids blossom. We couldn't do any of it without the incredible support of our community. This celebration is a way to bring everyone together for a night of great fun for a great cause."

Hosted by Fleurty Girl's Lauren Thom, the evening promises lots of fun, funk and food. Priced at $85 per person, guests will enjoy savory eats and sweet treats from award-winning Chef Dave Gotter of GG's Dine-O-Rama, while imbibing on creative cocktails, wine, champagne and a selection of craft beers from NOLA Brewing. A live performance by Big Sam's Funky Nation is certain to ‘raise the roof' and a silent and online auction featuring celebrity musicians' hand-crafted artwork made from old instruments will round out the celebratory evening.

Sponsors include The Adkerson Family, The Conwill Family Foundation, Jennifer and Doug Walner, Trey Monaghan, NOLA Brewing Company, BBC Destination Management, Karen and Steve Herman and Carbine Motorcars.

Tickets are limited and will be available for purchase at www.therootsofmusic.org. For further information on the event and/or sponsorship opportunities, please email events@therootsofmusic.org or call (504) 722-2961.
