Life in the Big Easy

Arrie Kain (Communications & PR) will marry Ben Henderson on November 1, 2014 in Charleston, South Carolina. Why Charleston? It's where they started dating. Arrie and Ben knew each other as students at LSU, but reconnected at a tailgate 10+ years later via a mutual friend. They started dating when Ben lived in Charleston for his fellowship year. They got engaged in Torrey Pines State Park right outside of San Diego, California this past March. Ben was there for a conference, and Arrie tagged along for a vacation.

Billie Jo Pigniolo's (Convention Sales) daughter, Peyton Pigniolo, and the John Curtis Lady Patriots recently won the Louisiana State Softball Championship for the 3rd year in a row. Peyton will be a senior next year and hopes to go on and help the Lady Patriots win State, making it 4 years in a row.

Brad Weaber (Executive Vice President) was recently nominated and accepted a seat on the Destination Marketing Association International's (DMAI) Board of Directors. His term will begin in July at the 100th Annual Convention and will run for one year.

Christine DeCuir's (Communications) granddaughter Mariah DeCuir is in her first year of dance school at the Passion Dance Center. She loves it! She recently performed in her first recital where she was nominated for 2nd place as a "Diamond of the Runway." Christine was also recently recognized in a ceremony at the St. Louis Cathedral where Bishop Aymond presented her with an award for her long-term service to the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Jessica LaChute (External Affairs) will be getting surf and sun on vacation when she heads to Vieques, Puerto Rico in early July.

Kim Priez (Tourism) is a current member of the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience Board, which showcases one of the many things New Orleans does best-food.

Lyn Hallaron (Convention Sales) celebrated her 50th birthday on April 6th!

Odilia Wallace's (Visitor Center) mother, Fernanda Guillen, turned 80 at the end of May. Odilia and her siblings threw her a surprise birthday party at La Maison Creole Hall in Harvey with 80 of her closest friends and family members.

Pamela Arbon's (External Affairs) son Cooper will celebrate his 1st birthday on July 18th.

Tina McDaniel (Finance) will hit 2 milestones this year. She will turn the big "40" in October and her daughter Kaycee will turn "21" in July. She is "kind of" excited but depressed at the same time.

Vicki Bristol (Communications) chaired the "Bowling for Children's Bureau" in May at Fulton Alley. The Children's Bureau is a nonprofit community-based agency focused on delivering behavioral health care to underserved children and their families across metro New Orleans. Many of its programs focus on kids who have experienced or witnessed some trauma in their lives-often violent crime. Children's Bureau clinicians work with children through the grieving process and teach coping skills and anger management. For more information, visit www.childrensbureaunola.org.

Wanda Stamp's (Visitor Center) son, Brandon Stamps, has been inducted into the National Honor Society at De La Salle High School. Brandon will be a junior in the fall 2014.

Team New Orleans CVB, including Alyssa Ealy, Jeff Anding, Laura Russett, Molly Lehmuller, Rachel Avery, Tico Soto, and Tiffany Isemann, all participated in the Crescent City Classic, raising more than $300 for the Covenant House.
