New weekly series invites guests to flow from Rib Room's refreshed Jazz Brunch into an intimate afternoon of live music — part of Three Maries' growing lineup that includes two-time Grammy Award winner Cyril Neville
WHAT: Omni Royal Orleans has officially launched "Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon," a new weekly series at Three Maries Jazz Club inspired by the city's long tradition of Sunday afternoon jazz. In the early days of New Orleans' jazz revival, music legends gathered at venues like Preservation Hall, playing as a communal exchange to keep music alive. That same spontaneous spirit now returns to the French Quarter every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., immediately following Rib Room's Jazz Brunch.
Every Sunday, a performer with ties to Preservation Hall takes the stage at Three Maries: Kasey Ball on March 1, Ramon Navarro III on March 8, Desmain Barnes on March 15 and Dr. Michael Torregano on March 29. The intimate jazz club pairs New Orleans' unmistakable sound with an elevated craft cocktail program, including the Dust N' Bones and Caviar and Champagne, and small plates such as Jambalaya Arancini, Griddled Petite Muffuletta and Grilled Andouille.
Guests can begin their Sunday at Rib Room's Jazz Brunch, newly refreshed following a renovation and refresh of the restaurant's space and menu. A New Orleans dining institution for more than 60 years, Rib Room features live music from Sugar Bear & The Jazz Cats from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, with brunch highlights including Crab Benedict with toasted Gambino; Grillades & Grits with braised prime rib; Prime Rib Hash; and Cinnamon Rolls with cream cheese, caramel and candied pecans.
Together, Rib Room’s Jazz Brunch and Three Maries’ Sunday Jazz Sessions offer locals and visitors the opportunity to linger longer, enjoying brunch before heading just steps away to continue the afternoon with live jazz and cocktails.
Three Maries continues its robust programming lineup Thursdays-Saturdays, with March performances by Glen David Andrews, Cecil Edwards, Or Shovaly, Leroy Jones, Anais St. John and more, alongside weekly appearances from Kyle Sharamitaro and other celebrated local musicians. Looking ahead, two-time Grammy Award winner Cyril Neville will join Glen David Andrews on April 25, during Jazz Fest.
