Christmas in New Orleans has always been a magical time and now a dazzling, family-friendly seasonal event that combines Louisiana traditions with state-of-the-art technology offers another opportunity to get into the holiday spirit.

Christmas in the District is bringing the fun indoors this year! The highlight of the event will be "NOLA Christmas Fest," a 2-week indoor festival inside the Great Hall of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, December 12th - 24th providing holiday fun for the whole family. Discover the new "My New Orleans Christmas" display after a journey through the "Great Hall of Trees" exhibiting a stunning collection of over 50 decorated trees as well as a "Gingerbread House" competition which benefits Operation Homefront, an organization supporting local military families. In "Santa's Playland," children of all ages can enjoy the inflatable zone, petting zoo and a host of children's crafts and activities. A variety of holiday characters will include special appearances by Mr. Bingle and a photo opportunity with Santa Claus. "Community Stages" will feature Christmas entertainment, cooking demonstrations, puppet shows and local choirs. On weekends the "Arts and Craft Market" gives visitors the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts.

The season kicks off with a Children's Lantern Parade at CITD on December 12th. Other events throughout December include the "Santa Paws at CITD" dog costume contest and parade on December 14th and Harrah's Champagne Stroll at CITD on December 5th.

Now is the time to plan your New Orleans holiday excursion and take advantage of spectacular Papa Noel rates in hotels citywide!

The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is funding the event as a part of its mission to bring visitors to town and is expected to inspire all the residents and businesses in the Warehouse/Arts District to embrace the event and help grow it annually.

"We invite local residents and visitors to bring their families and friends to dine in the Warehouse/Arts District, and then come inside the Convention Center to enjoy all of the new and exciting activities that NOLA Christmas Fest has to offer," said Bob Johnson, President/General Manager of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

"We also encourage all Warehouse/Arts District business and residents to join in the Christmas spirit by putting up their own festive lights and decorations in their windows and outside of their buildings. Working together, this event will attract locals and visitors alike and could rival some of the largest holiday events in the country."

Convention Center Boulevard will be festooned with thousands of lights and animated music from December 1 - January 6. NOLA Christmas Fest at CITD will complement the annual "Christmas New Orleans Style" celebration, and will continue to evolve annually.
