New Orleans, June 26, 2018- The New Orleans School of Cooking, currently celebrating its 38th year in business, received high honors from the TripAdvisor travelers community today.

Classes at the New Orleans School of Cooking were rated as the # 2 experience in the United States and the # 6 experience in the World.

“We’re excited to announce our first Travelers’ Choice Awards for Experiences, according to feedback from the TripAdvisor community,” said Laurel Greatrix, director of communications for TripAdvisor. “Experiences are often the highlight of a trip, and a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture, or even explore your hometown….these awards highlight the best things to do around the world, with something for every type of traveler.”

Since 1980, the school has educated local, national and international visitors about the basics of Louisiana cooking such as gumbo, jambalaya and pralines, all seasoned with generous helpings of humor, history, trivia and tall tales. The adjacent Louisiana General Store offers local and regional specialty food items, seasonings, cookbooks and kitchen tools.

“Our mission is to share the fun, food and folklore of New Orleans with the world,” said Gregory Leighton, co-owner of the school with his wife, Suzanne. “It’s a family business and to have it recognized in this way is a tremendous honor for our staff and a humbling thank-you from our guests.”
