New Orleans & Company is excited to partner with WWOZ, known for showcasing the best of New Orleans music around the world
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Representing over 200 New Orleans musicians and counting, the New Orleans & Company Musician Database, powered by WWOZ is an online compendium of the talented musicians who make our city special through their creativity, artistry, and dedication to their craft on a daily basis launching this month.
“It is fitting that we introduce this incredible and growing collection of information for our musician community during “Music Month,” a project that has been on our wish list to provide the New Orleans’ cultural community for a long time,” said Walt Leger III, President and CEO, New Orleans & Company. “It is an honor to offer this level of support to those who provide the soundtrack for our city, and it is our mission to grow this database to include artists and culture bearers from more genres.”
For years, New Orleans & Company has partnered with WWOZ to provide their Livewire calendar’s music listings to millions of NewOrleans.com visitors. The Musician Database elevates the partnership by connecting the live music calendar to detailed pages on the musicians and bands scheduled to perform on any given night. With roughly half a million visits to the front page of those listings alone this year so far, this project unlocks the opportunity to showcase the community’s musicians to a large, targeted audience of visitors and locals who want to support New Orleans music.
"Here at WWOZ we're very excited about this next phase in our ongoing partnership with New Orleans & Company. This database is yet another innovative way that we're able to bring New Orleans musicians to the city and the world," said WWOZ's General Manager Beth Arroyo Utterback.
Each of the pages in this database has the potential to showcase an artist with images, a bio, genre, related acts, links to their website and social media handles, their playlists on Spotify, and their performance schedule.
“This musician database is so great as far as what it has the power to do in terms of bringing attention to musicians such as me and my family,” said James Andrews, vocalist, songwriter and trumpet legend from New Orleans. “To be able to have my performance schedule, links to my music, and other information promoting my work is so valuable to me. I know I am speaking for a lot of us in the local music community in saying how grateful I am to New Orleans & Company and WWOZ for teaming up to create this collection of information.”
“This will be an ever-evolving feature on NewOrleans.com and we look forward to continuing our work with WWOZ to add more artists to this list and add more features to the listings themselves in the weeks and months ahead, in addition to adding other culture genres,” added Leger.
Every artist will have a unique URL. As an example, James Andrews’ URL can be viewed here: https://www.neworleans.com/listing/james-andrews/46408/.
