NATION’S PREMIER LITERACY INSTITUTE “PLAIN TALK ABOUT LITERACY AND LEARNING®” HEADS TO NEW ORLEANS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 10, 2025
WHO/WHAT
Plain Talk About Literacy and Learning® is heralded as the nation's premier literacy institute and is celebrating the 30th anniversary during this sold-out event. The Institute gained its reputation because of its clear focus on providing evidence-based reading research and strategies for those who teach all ages and grade levels. The Plain Talk conference is a key conference in addressing reading skills among school-aged children by bridging the gap between research and school and classroom practices. Recently released reading data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) highlighted the need for continued work to implement effective literacy practices. Nationally, only 59% of 4th graders and 66% of 8th graders are reading at or above basic level, and smaller percentages who read proficiently. Many of the most renowned researchers and experts related to making effective and practical strategies to improve student literacy and learning outcomes will be leading keynotes and breakout sessions. Dr. John Wyble, the CEO of The Center for Literacy & Learning, and DeJunne’ Clark Jackson, the President of The Center for Literacy & Learning, will be available for interviews.
