Dear Mess Arts Families,

We are counting down to Monster Mash Fall Break Camp, October 12–16, 2026, at the Waldorf School of New Orleans!

Get ready for a week of visual art, dance, music, theater, STEM, movement, creative play, special guests, our Pass It On Artist Series, a field trip, Halloween fun, and lots of imagination.

We are also excited to introduce the growing Mess Arts team helping us create welcoming, accessible, high-quality arts experiences for young people.

🌟 MEET THE MESS ARTS TEAM

🎭 Kenneth “Kynt” Bryan

Executive Director • Camp Director • Master Teaching Artist

A multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, performer, producer, and educator, Kynt is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans and Tulane University, with continuing arts education through Juilliard/Yellowbrick. He leads Mess Arts with a focus on creativity, inclusion, accessibility, confidence, and youth artistic development.

🧪🎭 Lazy Levin

Teaching Artist • STEM Art • Movement • Puppetry

Lazy is a multimedia artist and puppeteer with a BA in Psychology from the University of New Orleans. Their teaching combines science, art, movement, play, and imagination.

 

🎨🎭 Karel Sloane-Boekbinder

Teaching Community Artist • Visual Art • Theater

Karel is a multidisciplinary artist and educator with experience in theater, visual art, writing, film/video, performance, public art, and community-based arts education. She brings storytelling, creativity, and decades of artistic experience to Mess Arts.


🌈 Ness Kent

Founder • Teaching Artist • Advisor

Mess Arts founder Ness Kent continues to support the organization through teaching, artistic guidance, mentorship, and institutional knowledge.

 

🥁🎹 Jakob Dietrich

Music Teaching Artist

A Loyola University New Orleans Jazz Studies graduate, Jakob teaches drums, piano, guitar, beginner voice, musicianship, ensemble performance, and arranging.


🩰🧑‍🩰 Emily Conelly

Mess Arts Teaching Artist

Emily is a professional ballet dancer, choreographer, and educator with more than 20 years of experience performing and teaching nationally and internationally. She has worked with companies including Nashville Ballet, Alabama Ballet, and Ballet Tucson and teaches ballet, creative movement, choreography, and performance. At Mess Arts, she brings artistry, experience, confidence, and joy to young dancers.

 

📚 Nicholas Budwine

Mess Arts Teaching Assistant

Nicholas is a writer, naturalist, educator, and gardener with a B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College. His background includes tutoring, mentoring, science education, and gardening with the Audubon Nature Institute. He brings curiosity, creativity, and a love of nature to Mess Arts.

Our Pass It On Artist Series connects campers directly with professional artists and community leaders.

The goal is simple:

Learn it. Live it. Pass it on.

Young people get to meet working artists, hear their stories, ask questions, create alongside them, and imagine their own creative futures.

🎭 FRIDAY COSTUME FUN

Campers are invited to wear or bring a comfortable, age-appropriate costume for our Friday celebration.

Please make sure children can easily move, dance, play, create, and use the restroom while wearing their costume.

🚌 FIELD TRIP FUN

Monster Mash includes a special experience at Bloody Mary’s Haunted Museum & Voodoo Shop.

Please return all required permission and emergency forms.

Mess Arts staff will complete camper headcounts before departure, upon arrival, before leaving the destination, and after returning to Waldorf.
