The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation and Budweiser present the 8th annual Horses, Hops and Cops fundraiser scheduled for Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will again be held at the N.O.P.D. horse stables located at 1021 Harrison Avenue in New Orleans City Park. The event is free for all ages to attend.

Southern Eagle Sales and Service, the New Orleans-area Budweiser distributor, continues to partner with the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation to co-produce the event, which raises money for the N.O.P.D. Mounted Unit.

Entertainment
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and greet the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales while they are in town for carnival season, as well as the newest N.O.P.D. baby horses Belle (filly) and Ti (colt) born in December. Guests will also enjoy a live equestrian soccer game at 5:15 p.m. featuring N.O.P.D. vs. Oxford MS in the horse arena. The event will also feature performances from local community groups, handmade gifts from arts and craft vendors, food and beverages for sale, and the opportunity to have a professional photo taken with a Budweiser Clydesdale horse.

Raffle
A raffle is on sale now for a chance to win a ride for two on the Budweiser Clydesdale wagon on Mardi Gras day in the Krewe of Argus parade (winner and guest must be 21 or older to ride – food, drink and throws are provided.) Drawing will be held at the conclusion of the event at 8:00 p.m. Winner need not be present.

VIP Experience
The event will again offer a limited quantity of VIP Experience tickets for sale. The VIP Experience ticket includes a private guided tour with a Budweiser Clydesdales horse trainer to learn more about their breed, their special history, unique equipment and other fun facts; a behind the scenes look at the N.O.P.D.’s horse training exercises and new breeding program; and a gift bag including an N.O.P.D. Mounted Unit t-shirt and hat, a Tabasco tote bag and mini bottle, a copy of New Orleans Magazine and more. Children 2 and under are admitted free with a paid VIP Experience ticket holder.

Raffle tickets and VIP Experience tickets are on sale now at http://www.bidpal.net/LHF.

Although free to attend, proceeds raised from sponsorships, concession sales, raffle tickets, VIP experience tickets, photo sales and other donations will support the N.O.P.D. Mounted Unit’s new horse breeding program. The N.O.P.D. Mounted Unit is a vital resource in helping deter criminal activity in the City of New Orleans, especially its hospitality district.

“The Mounted Division is our most versatile unit of the New Orleans Police Department particularly at large public events such as Mardi Gras,” said Superintendent Shaun D. Ferguson. “The unit provides ‘high visibility patrol’ and plays an important role in our crime-fighting efforts. That’s why this event is vital to ensuring our department can continue the program well into the future.

Volunteers are needed for this event. Both adults and high school students can sign up at: http://bit.ly/HHC19volunteers.

We do this by supporting workforce development programs directly related to our industry; providing access to culinary and hospitality education; working to ensure a positive perception of Louisiana’s hospitality industry; and providing financial assistance and/or guidance to people in the hospitality industry during times of crisis.

Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed over $1.6 million in support of its mission. These funds are raised through signature fundraising events including Horses, Hops and Cops, the Fidelity Bank Champions Club at Zurich Classic, the Gold Medal Chefs Gala, and Santa’s Kitchen.
