LOUISIANA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA WELCOMES BACK TANK AND THE BANGAS WITH DAWN RICHARD FOR SPECIAL COLLABORATION

GRAMMY® Winners Return to the Orpheum for a Third Collaboration with the LPO on October 2

NEW ORLEANS, LA — The GRAMMY® Award-winning Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) welcomes home GRAMMY® Award-winning Tank and The Bangas for a third collaboration with the orchestra, joined for the first time by fellow New Orleans native Dawn Richard. The artists will take the stage with the LPO on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 8:00 PM at the Orpheum Theater.

Known for their explosive blend of funk, soul, hip-hop, spoken word, and R&B, Tank and The Bangas have become one of New Orleans’ most celebrated musical exports. Their return to the LPO comes after the group’s historic GRAMMY® win for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for The Heart, The Mind, The Soul.

For this homecoming performance, the group will be joined by Dawn Richard, whose genre-defying artistry spans R&B, pop, electronic music, and New Orleans-rooted sounds. A celebrated artist in her own right, Richard brings a distinctive creative voice to her first collaboration with the LPO.

“Collaborations like this reflect what makes the LPO so uniquely New Orleans,” said LPO Board Chair Brittany Major. “Tank and the Bangas and Dawn Richard are artists who have helped shape the sound and spirit of this city, and it is exciting to bring their voices together with our musicians. This concert celebrates the musical traditions that make New Orleans special while creating something entirely new for our community to experience together.”

The performance marks the latest chapter in the LPO’s ongoing collaborations with Tank and The Bangas, whose previous appearances with the orchestra brought together the energy of a New Orleans live show with the expansive sound of a full symphony orchestra. Richard’s debut adds a new dimension to the collaboration, bringing together three distinct New Orleans musical voices on one stage.

“We’re always looking for ways to make the orchestra feel connected to the music and artists of our community,” said LPO Music Director Matthew Kraemer. “There’s something incredibly exciting about bringing these artists into the orchestral world and discovering what we can create together.”
