JACK ROSE SOMMELIER ALEXANDRA MINTON NAMED “40 UNDER 40” BY WINE ENTHUSIAST MAGAZINE
New Orleans, LA (August 23, 2019) — Alexandra Minton, lead Sommelier at Jack Rose in New Orleans’ Garden District, has been recognized as one of Wine Enthusiast’s 2019 “40 Under 40.” The Wine Enthusiast 40 Under 40 list recognizes the young winemakers, brewers, beverage directors, grape growers, and other movers and shakers who are changing today’s beverage industry.
Minton is recognized for her curatorial creativity with Jack Rose’s wine program, which is in tune with the restaurant’s philosophy – a mix of the familiar and the unknown; where one comes to be dazzled but not overwhelmed, to be challenged yet comforted.
According to Minton, “With the focus being on small-production, natural wineries, pricing is very approachable, especially when it comes to wines that are often unfamiliar to many. Good wine does not have to be expensive. Nor does great wine, so when you come to Jack Rose the hope is that when you decide to try something new cost is not an influencer in that decision.”
The inventory at Jack Rose is not large, but it is constantly evolving to ensure the list stays seasonal and fresh. The same expectations that a guest has for a food menu should be extended to a wine list. Many wines found on the list, such as those from a dedicated “Day Drinking” category, are designed for the quintessential New Orleans diner, whose marathon-of-choice is a lengthy lunch bursting with bubbles that rolls into dinner. With a sizable selection of chilled reds, Pétillant-Naturel, and low A.B.V. wines, the Jack Rose wine list is an adult drinking playground.
