New Orleans, Louisiana- Hogs for the Cause is thrilled to announce its dates and a change in the location for the 2017 charity barbeque cook-off and music festival. The 9th annual event is set for March 30th - April 1, 2017, in its new location at the East Campus of the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena Grounds on Leon C. Simon Drive. Organizers cite logistics, parking, and festival density in the Mid-City area as main reasons for the location change. "Our teams do so much to support us, that it is important for us to find a site that can support their growth," states Becker Hall, Director and Co-Founder of Hogs for the Cause. "The Lakefront location provides a beautiful, grassy spot right next to Lake Pontchartrain, the paved roads make it easier for the teams to bring in their smokers and other equipment for competition, and there is plenty of lighted secure parking for our patrons." In addition, Hall refers to the historical significance of the Lakefront Arena location as it relates to many New Orleanians-the Pope said Mass there in 1987, Lollapalooza took place there in 1992, and many share good memories of bands playing in the arena over their lifetimes. "City Park has been an incredible partner for the last 6 years, and we thank them for all the extraordinary efforts they have made to help us create and grow our event," commends Hall.

"We are also extremely proud to share the news that we have made contributions of over $1 Million dollars to individuals and hospitals across the South since our inception just over 8 years ago," states Zandy Rainold, Hogs for the Cause Chief Financial Officer. "We have been so successful because our teams have gone above and beyond, our sponsors have come back year after year, and our patrons keep coming back and bringing more and more friends. We couldn't ask for more." As the premier funding source for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States, Hogs for the Cause has distributed grants to over 400 families who have a child being treated for pediatric brain cancer. In addition, Hogs has made the following significant medical donations: a $25,000 contribution to East Tennessee Children's Hospital (ETCH) for the establishment of the Hogs for the Cause Pediatric Oncology Social Services Fund, a $25,000 contribution to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) for the establishment of the Hogs for the Cause Family and Patient Fund, funding to support the construction of two Stem Cell Recovery rooms as part of a local Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Program, and a $50,000 contribution will be directed to Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for the establishment of the Hogs for the Cause/"Fox Bros BBQ" Patient Room.
