The green Perley Thomas streetcars, which are designated national historic landmarks, are returning to New Orleans’ tracks on Sunday, Dec. 18Six of the streetcars will run 7 days a week, and two will be on standby.

The main route runs from the French Market Riverfront stop (Where Esplanade Avenue meet the River, at the entrance to the French Market) to the Convention Center.  The Riverfront line, including 3 streetcars, will run from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. each day.

A Canal Street route will also run from Esplanade to the historic former Krauss Building (near Basin Street).  The hours of its 3 dedicated streetcars will be 6:30 a.m. -10 p.m. 

Service will be FREE until March, 2006.
