Celebrate America’s birthday along the historic New Orleans Riverfront with the FREE Go 4th on the River Fireworks Show at 9:00 p.m. on July 4th! Produced by the Riverfront Marketing Group (RMG), this FREE spectacular fireworks display can be seen from the East and West Banks of the river from the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk to Crescent Park at French Market District. The fireworks will be streamed live on WWL.com and WWL Radio Facebook.
Thanks to Zito Companies LLC, Magic 101.9, WWL 870AM/105.3FM, WWL.com, New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, and The Berger Company, along with New Orleans & Company, J&M Displays, T.T. Barge, and more than twenty Community Partners, this cherished tradition will light the skies over the Mississippi River.
Choreographed to patriotic music, the display will feature hundreds of rapid-fire shells sweeping the sky at heights of 200 feet above the Mississippi River. During the display and especially the grand finale, massive bursts of red peonies, white dahlias, and blue chrysanthemums with splashes of silver and gold will fill the sky.
“Come out and celebrate America as only New Orleans can,” says J&M Displays Gulf Coast Director David Spear. “Being able to watch the pyrotechnic production from the French Quarter is simply very special. Another extraordinary feature of this display is to hear the reverberations of ‘booms’ bouncing around the many skyscrapers downtown.”
The Riverfront Marketing Group through J&M Displays will again provide an iPhone and Android app that will allow anyone who downloads the app to hear the passionately patriotic show music in real time in sync to the fireworks. Simply go to Go4thontheRiver.com and scan the QR code. When the app is downloaded, click on “Available Events.” After the screen loads, click on Go 4th NOLA to listen to the music when the show starts at 9:00 p.m.
Go 4th on the River is a community project. Each year the Riverfront Marketing Group must start over to raise funds needed for the traditional fireworks show over the Mississippi. “This year presented us with financial challenges. Thanks to our TRUE BLUE sponsors, we will have an extraordinary display from a barge centrally located on the river so it can be seen from the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk to Crescent Park at French Market District,” says Adrienne Thomas, RMG Treasurer. “We look forward to expanding the sponsor base for even larger display next year.”
Come down early to 4th Fest in Crescent Park in the French Market District. It begins at 4:30 p.m., with free live music by The World War II Museum’s Victory Belles at 5:30 p.m., followed by MoJEAUX at 7:00 p.m., leading up to the 9:00 p.m. fireworks display over the Mighty Mississippi. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs to enjoy the show. (Coolers, glass, and tents are not allowed.) Visit www.FrenchMarket.org for schedule details.
By popular demand the French Market District will also present the fourth annual Fireworks Photography Workshop with Zack Smith Photography in Crescent Park. Participants are guaranteed a VIP riverfront viewing area to photograph the 9:00 p.m. fireworks show and learn about unique techniques to get the best photos ever! Register at www.ZackSmith.com.
The Port of New Orleans will bring out the General Roy S.
