Experience New Orleans Affordably in the Comfort of a Chartered Bus
If visitors to New Orleans are seeking a different approach to touring the city and its surrounds, they now have an affordable, interesting and fun option. Free Tours by Foot is offering a guided bus tour into and through the districts most tourists want to see...and into areas they desire, but find too far to walk to.
Free Tours by Foot introduced the "pay what it is worth" idea of walking tours to several cities in the United States, and has been offering these opportunities in New Orleans for years. Now, they are providing another option for people to experience the area by chartering a small bus that stops with an experienced guide, allowing tourists to walk with the guide through the area, hearing the stories of the streets, and board the air-conditioned bus to reach another section to feel its energy and life.
The three-hour tours offers a sense of the unique lifestyle in the New Orleans neighborhoods. Explore the French Quarter, the Garden District, City Park and the Central Business District with a local guide who communicates the flavor of the city. Then hop on the bus with the same guide and about 24 people to travel to the Upper Ninth Ward and see what is happening since Hurricane Katrina; then go out to St. Louis #3 Cemetery.
This is not a "hop-on, hop-off" type transport. This is an organized small-group tour with a bus awaiting the return of the group to move onto the next stop. And, it moves at a comfortable pace so tourists can experience the city and its neighborhoods. To charter the bus, Free Tours by Foot requires a $16 fee - the cost of the bus is spread across the 24 people on the tour. At the end of the tour, participants compensate the tour guide what they think is appropriate for the experience. This is an affordable, and appealing way to visit New Orleans and its famous neighborhoods.
For more information or to reserve (reservations are required and payment for the bus must be made in advance) a spot on the tour, go to www.freetoursbyfoot.com website and under the Choose a City bullet, click on New Orleans. On the left is the opportunity to then click on the Bus Tours box.
