World’s top 160 teams compete in the first-ever ALGS Open, largest in-person EA competition

WHAT
From May 1–4, 2025, the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Open—the first-ever ALGS Open and largest in-person, team-based competition ever hosted by Electronic Arts (EA)—takes over the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. A production of EA and Respawn Entertainment, the event will feature 160 elite teams – a total of 480 Apex Legends players – from more than 40 countries. This epic four-day competition of skill and strategy will see players battle for a share of USD $1 million in total prize money and the coveted title of first-ever ALGS Open Champion. Thousands of fans are expected to attend in person, while hundreds of thousands more will watch the action live on Twitch, YouTube, and FACEIT Watch.
Coinciding with New Orleans’ world-famous Jazz & Heritage Festival, the ALGS Open offers fans a one-of-a-kind experience that fuses cutting-edge competition with the city’s iconic music, food, and cultural energy. This event underscores New Orleans' growing status as a global hub for innovation and technology. As gaming and esports continue to explode, the ALGS Open stands as a powerful showcase of the industry’s global reach, diversity, and economic impact. With over 3.4 billion gamers worldwide and 640 million dedicated esports fans (Newzoo), this fast-growing entertainment sector is transforming how people play, connect, and engage.
