New Orleans, La (February 12, 2020) -- The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation announced Chaka Khan, Tank and the Bangas, and Tonya Boyd-Cannon will be among the performers at the 22nd annual Jazz & Heritage Gala, which kicks off the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The grand soirée will take place at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel on Wednesday, April 22nd.
All proceeds from this fun-filled evening benefit the Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music, the free program of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, offering musical instruments and music education to over 300 students weekly.
“Early Bird” tickets are $800 each and will increase to $850 on February 15th. Each ticket comes with a Gala Pass to Jazz Fest - which provides admission to all eight days of Jazz Fest. This year's featured Gala performance is an all-star tribute to women in music. It will include 10 time Grammy winner Chaka Khan, Grammy nominated Tank and the Bangas, Tonya Boyd-Cannon, and a special performance from the Heritage School of Music.

The Jazz & Heritage Gala is presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. The Foundation is the nonprofit organization that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The Foundation uses the proceeds from Jazz Fest, and other raised funds, for year-round programs in education, economic development and cultural enrichment. Education programs include the Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music, the Tom Dent Congo Square Lectures, the Class Got Brass competition for school brass bands, a youth audio workshop program, youth vocal workshops, and more! Economic Development initiatives include the Community Partnership Grants, the Catapult Fund accelerator program and Sync Up entertainment industry workshops. Cultural enrichment programs include the Jazz & Heritage Concert Series and annual Foundation Festivals: the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival, the Congo Square Rhythms Festival, the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival and the Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival. The Foundation also owns radio station WWOZ 90.7-FM and the Jazz & Heritage Archive. In late 2014, the Foundation opened the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center – an education and community facility named for Jazz Fest founder George Wein and his late wife Joyce.
