SWEETARTS 2020’s theme – CHANGES: Into a Radiant Future – highlights transformation as the CAC ushers in the decade with new leadership, a refined focus on contemporary creativity, fostering artistic excellence, and honoring visionary leaders in the New Orleans arts community.

NEW ORLEANS, LA (February 28, 2020) – The Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans (CAC) announced today that SWEETARTS 2020, its premier annual ball, will take place on Friday, May 15th, 2020, 7:30pm–10:30pm at the home of Board Member and Co-Chair Alison Diboll located at 3611 Carondelet Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Event Co-Chairs and Board Members Alison Diboll and Jane Cooper, and Executive Director George Scheer, have reimagined SWEETARTS 2020 as an elegant evening where the theme of CHANGES: Into a Radiant Future, will be revealed in phases of epicurean delights, visual exploration, and original immersive musical performances by Aurora Nealand, free feral, and Tif “Teddy” Lamson. SWEETARTS is a 36-year tradition and honors exceptional leadership in the arts community. In keeping with its legacy of recognizing artistic leaders, the CAC will honor the following contributors to the art community of New Orleans:

CHANGES: Into a Radiant Future, also reflects the new leadership of Executive Director George Scheer, who assumed the helm of the multi-disciplinary arts center in October 2019. “SWEETARTS 2020 will provide patrons with a personal, artistic, and authentic expression of the CAC’s commitment to advancing the experimental practices of the artistic community of New Orleans,” states Scheer, adding,“The legacy of the CAC is rich in presenting exemplary contemporary art, and a radiant future will expand and deepen engagement and patronage with contemporary art in our city.”

Since 1984, the CAC has honored artists, performers, educators, philanthropists, and art patrons who shape the arts and cultural community at its annual SWEETARTS Ball. CAC Board Member and Co-Chair Jane Cooper states, “Unlike any other gala, SWEETARTS puts artists at the center of the celebration, offering an experience with unique flair and engaging entertainment that spans all art forms, including curated food and beverage offerings.” SWEETARTS 2020 Co-Chair Alison Diboll adds, “SWEETARTS 2020 is about the transformative power of art.
